The name Leeming may have originated from a variety of ways, but the most likely is from one of the two places in Yorkshire England of that name. The name is found most commonly in Yorkshire and Lancashire and to a lesser extent in the adjoining counties. With the advent of emigration it is now found throughout the English speaking world. My own family history is briefly as follows- |
|||
John Leeming c.1680 = Elizabeth Inman │ Robert Leeming 1708-1786 Pateley Bridge = Isabel Thackeray │ Thomas Leeming 1748-1833 Kirk Deighton = Ann Matterson │ John Leeming 1777-1836 Headingley = Mary Thompson │ Thomas Thompson Leeming 1810 Rawdon = Mary Shaw │ Thomas Leeming 1849-1905 Horsforth = Emma Wilson │ Albert Leeming 1883-1953 Horsforth = Caroline Wilkinson |

If you are connected with any of the above, or are interested in Leeming genealogy anywhere, I will be pleased to hear from you. Please email me at leeming@one-name.org If you are interested in family history research in North Yorkshire and need somewhere to stay, why not try our guesthouse in Pickering which you can see on our home page. There you will find a warm welcome and we will always be willing to discuss genealogy problems. We also have a small library of family history books available to visitors. These cover all aspects of genealogy but have a bias to Yorkshire. |
